A Research on the Burnout Levels of Professional Footballers

The aim of this study is to examine the burnout levels of professional football players according to variables such as marital status, age, monthly income, league level, professional playing year, number of injuries experienced in a season and the number of matches that cannot be played due to injury in a season. The study group of the research choosing from the Turkish Football Federation 2021-2022 season TFF 2nd & 3rd The sample 521 professional football players competing in these leagues. The Athlete Burnout Scale and personal information form were applied to the sample. The scales were delivered to the participants via Google Forms and their voluntary participation in the research was based on. The obtained data were analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 package program. Normality tests were applied to the obtained data. Considering the test results, Mann Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis tests, which are non-parametric tests, were used in the analysis of the data. According to the results of the analysis, significant differences were observed (α =0.05 level), professional burnout levels of football players, marital status, age, monthly income, level league, the professional year playing in a season, the number of matches that can be played in a season due to injury and disability, and the maximum number of variables. As a result, it is understood that all variables make a difference on the burnout levels of professional football players. Considering that burnout affects success and continuity in the football sector, it is considered that it is very important to focus on the factors that affect burnout.
